Pledge 5: Promoting inclusion in Salford

We will tackle poverty and social inequalities and increase the involvement of local communities in shaping the future of the city.
This will be achieved by
- Building strong, confident communities
- Celebrating and supporting our cultural diversity
- Improving access to services and support mechanisms for vulnerable members of the community
Headline targets for 2007/08
- To secure over 560 new successful benefit claims for people aged 60 or over
- To apply two more age proofing exercises to significant areas of interest to older people, one of which will be home care services in Salford
- To increase the number of older people accessing Fit City centres by 1.1%
- To increase the number of people receiving direct payments from 160 to 250 by the end of the year
- To increase the number of people aged 16 or over who undertake fomal volunteering in groups, clubs and organisations by a further 506 (this is subject to funding/resources available)
