Allotments
At the Environment, Housing and Planning Scrutiny Committee in October 2007 a member of the local community raised various issues under public question time:
In response to these and other issues raised members agreed to invite officers to the January 2008 meeting to respond to:
·How many disused allotment sites are there in Salford and what are future plans?
·What allotments do we have available and what are the waiting lists for each site?
·What is the procedure for allotments in a state of disrepair?
·Do we have any new land assigned for allotments?
·Do we have an allotments strategy?
The meeting was well attended by members of the various allotment societies across Salford, who were able to raise various issues at the meeting.
Officers provided an update on progress at the meeting held in April, whereupon members of the local allotment societies attended. It is evident that this will be an ongoing piece of work therefore further discussions will be scheduled for later in the year.
