How to get involved

Overview and scrutiny need the views and experiences of local people in order to help us make a difference and ensure that the council and its partners deliver quality services that meet the needs of the community.

Suggestions of issues for scrutiny

If there are particular services or issues which you think should be looked at, please let us know by emailing scrutiny.support@salford.gov.uk or writing to Scrutiny Support Team, Salford Civic Centre, Chorley Road, Swinton. You should explain what the issue is and why you think scrutiny should consider it.

All items received will be considered and shared with the relevant scrutiny committee to decide if it can be included on their work programme.

Contributing to the scrutiny committees work programmes

Overview and scrutiny committees agree a work programme each year, which includes services and issues to be reviewed. You can find out more by visiting the latest developments pages or looking at the latest edition of the scrutiny newsletter on our publications page.

If you have any views, experiences or information about items on the scrutiny work programme that you want to share, please contact the named officer by email or by writing to Scrutiny Support Team, Salford Civic Centre, Chorley Road, Swinton.

Public Question time

All the regular monthly meetings of the 6 scrutiny committees are held in public and you are welcome to attend as an observer.

At the start of each meeting, there will be a 15 minute public question time, where you are able to ask a question of the committee. We must have your question in advance, no later than 24 hours before the meeting. You can do this by completing our online form or downloading a copy of the public question time form below and sending by post to Overview and Scrutiny, Room G1, Phase 2. Freepost, NWW1358, Swinton, M27 7BD.

Alternately, if you are unable to attend the meeting, you can still submit a question and the Chair will raise it on your behalf.

Scrutiny can’t consider

  • Individual complaints
  • Individual issues about members of staff
  • Planning or licensing matters
