At a glance summary - capital investment
In addition to the money the council spends on day-to-day services as reflected in the revenue budget, the council also invests for the future in its buildings and infrastructure. A provisional capital programme of works costing approximately £115.2 million has been drawn up which is expected to attract Government grants and other external funding in the region of £74.2 million. The balance of costs will be met from income of approximately £25.2 million from the disposal of surplus assets (capital receipts), £11 million from the use of unsupported borrowing and £4.8 million from supported borrowing. The cost of the repayments on the amount borrowed has been included in the revenue budget within the capital financing service. A summary of the type of schemes included in this year’s programme and the proposed funding is shown below.
