Fraud & Corruption

Make a good call

Salford City Council is committed to making sure that the opportunity for fraud and corruption is reduced to the lowest possible risk. Where the possibility of fraud, corruption and other problems occur, the council will deal with it in a firm and controlled manner.

An important part of this is the introduction of an anti-fraud and anti-corruption strategy. This will be used to advise and guide members of the council and staff on the council’s approach to the serious issues of fraud and corruption.

The council expects all members, employees, consultants, contractors, and service users, to be fair and honest, and to provide any help, information and support necessary to deal with fraud and corruption.

There is a dedicated freephone number through which concerns may be raised, or you can report any suspicions using a confidential online form via this page. The council will protect the anonymity of a person making a call, although it is helpful if a name and contact details are left in order that any issues may be clarified to assist in any investigation. The number to ring is 0808 100 1235.

You can also report any suspicions via this web site by using the online form below. Alternatively you can email audit@salford.gov.uk.

If you wish to raise a concern regarding housing benefit and council tax benefit fraud you can contact the Benefit Fraud Hotline on 0800 328 6340 or alternatively email: benefit.investigations@salford.gov.uk.
