Homes previously owned by Salford City Council in Central Salford are now owned by Salix Homes, and in West Salford by City West Housing Trust.

City West provides social housing and associated services for its customers across the city of Salford, with the exception of the Central Salford area- referred to as West Salford. 

Services in Central Salford are provided by Salix Homes. The organisation also manages housing market renewal projects for the local area and own/manage the Tenant Management Organisations at New Barracks and Windsor Albion.

In Pendleton a Private Finance Initiative(PFI) organisation has been established to invest in the remaining council owned homes in that area.

There is also a range of other Registered Providers who also provide homes in Salford for below market rent, in addition to Accredited Private Landlords.
