Council housing

Want to rent a home?

Salford Home Search provides home seekers with a greater choice when looking for a home to rent whether it's a council property managed by Salix Homes, a property owned and managed by City West Housing Trust or another housing association or an accredited private landlord.

Please visit Salford Home Search for any available properties.

Salford Home Search is part of the city council’s Housing support service.

Council housing in Salford is provided by the arms-length management organisation (ALMO), Salix Homes. Homes previously owned by the council in west Salford are now owned and managed by the Registered Social Landlord (RSL), City West Housing Trust.

City West provides social housing and associated services for its customers across the city of Salford, with the exception of the Central Salford area- referred to as west Salford.

Services in Central Salford are provided by Salix Homes. The organisation also manages housing market renewal projects for the local area.

Tenants in West Salford voted to transfer the ownership of their homes from New Prospect to City West Housing Trust.

In Pendleton a Private Finance Initiative (PFI) organisation is to be established to invest in council owned homes.

Please visit their websites for further information, including how to register for council housing, contact details for housing repairs and other matters:
