Creating a new Pendleton

Pendleton is about to see some big changes!
Located in the heart of Central Salford, Pendleton is an area of huge opportunity. Already home to over 13,000 proud and passionate residents, Pendleton will see the benefit of large scale regeneration that will boost the area back to the thriving community it once was - a neighbourhood of choice.
Latest news
Residents on the Athole Street estate have now been issued with Initial Demolition Notices. Officers from Salix Homes will be working with residents to help them through the next stage of the rehousing process.
On 6 July 2011 Housing Minister Grant Shapps signed off the next stage of an investment programme for Pendleton after being reassured it will deliver improvements that are value for money for local people. Since October 2010, housing private finance initiative (PFI) projects nationally have been put on hold to undergo further scrutiny from the Homes and Communities Agency. Salford's plans survived the review which means the city council can now push forward with its plan to completely redevelop Pendleton with a mixture of new housing and improvements to some 1,200 existing homes. The council will now put together a full business case to submit to the government for further review.
30 new homes, which are being developed by Great Places Housing Group on the Alder Street and Highfield Road areas, tying together the Chimney Pot Park and recent Fitzwarren Street development will be completed by spring 2012.
The spring edition of the 'Creating a new Pendleton' newsletter was distributed in March.
