What we do

Crimestoppers

Crimestoppers aim to become the most effective crime-solving tool in the country and to be perceived as such by communities and stake-holders. We will continue to reassure the public by increasing detections, therefore reducing crime and disorder and the fear of crime. We will engage the public in our activities, promoting active citizenship.

Crimestoppers, an independent charity, is nationally recognised as a significant contributor to the fight against crime. All parts of all communities can have confidence in the Crimestoppers process. A 24/7 high quality anonymous information handling operation is its core. Crimestoppers’ objectives will be delivered by two supporting operations:

  • To encourage use of the anonymous phone line, and other means of communications. This, supported by projects and campaigns will gain the public’s support in helping to solve crimes.
  • To reduce crime, through engagement with people, particularly with the young and in those communities most affected by crime.

Crimestoppers Central Office runs an effective communications hub supporting appeals, seeking public support and engaging the media.

Crimestoppers objectives are:

  1. The advancement, promotion and preservation of public law and order
  2. The advancement and promotion of efficient policing
  3. The promotion and encouragement of good citizenship and greater public participation in the prevention and solution of crime
  4. The furtherance of the administration of justice
