Background reports for the publication core strategy

Background reports have been produced for the spatial vision and strategic objectives and each of the policies within the following chapters of the publication core strategy:

  • Chapter 8: Development principles
  • Chapter 9: Economic development
  • Chapter 10: Housing
  • Chapter 11: Town centres and retail development
  • Chapter 12: Education
  • Chapter 13: Health
  • Chapter 14: Accessibility
  • Chapter 15: Energy
  • Chapter 16: Water
  • Chapter 17: Design
  • Chapter 18: Heritage
  • Chapter 19: Green infrastructure
  • Chapter 20: Green belt and agriculture
  • Chapter 21: Biological and geological diversity
  • Chapter 22: Recreation
  • Chapter 23: Pollution and hazards
  • Chapter 24: Waste
  • Chapter 25: Minerals

Background reports have not been produced for the spatial framework area policies, as these generally pull together the relevant proposals contained within the thematic policies.

Each background report provides a detailed justification for the policy, explaining why the approach being proposed in the publication core strategy is considered to be the most appropriate, taking into account the technical evidence, national and regional planning policy and the comments received during the earlier stages of consultation on the core strategy.

To enquire into the cost of purchasing printed copies of any of the background reports, please email plans.consultation@salford.gov.uk or telephone 0161 793 3782.
