Dance Provisions

Part of Salford's Music & Performing Arts Service

MAPAS offer specialist dance provision to schools and colleges within the authority. Siobhan McNicholas is an experienced dance practitioner in Key Stage 3 and 4 including GCSE Dance. We have a range of materials to suit all ages including Key Stage 2, 3 & 4. GCSE Dance and GCSE PE Dance option is available and all relevant resources for these subjects.

Dance styles to be used include: Contemporary, Modern, Ballet, Street, Physical Theatre and dance for Musical Theatre. Siobhan also offers workshops to primary schools on a given theme or style or on a requested project. A second dance specialist is also available to offer workshops to primary schools. These can be organised within the school day. Normally these sessions would run on a weekly basis for a term or half a term and are charged at the curriculum rate, currently £106 for a morning session, £95 for an afternoon session or £190 for a full day. Although there has been a keen uptake in this provision, future sessions can still be arranged. Contact Sarat Broughton on 778 0257 for further information.

Weekly dance club

There is a weekly dance club at The Swinton High School on Monday evenings. The junior group (age 7-11) from 5pm to 6pm and the senior group (age 12-19) from 6pm to 7pm.
