Demolition notices
Some tenants living in the PFI area have been issued with demolition notices.
These are legal notices and they advise tenants that their 'right to buy' their current home from the council has been suspended and applications will not be finalised.
The notices do not mean that the homes are about to be demolished straight away. The notice will remain active for up to seven years and can then be followed by a 'Final Demolition Notice' which is active for a further two years. Demolition dates have not yet been confirmed but residents will be told as soon as this has been agreed. The demolition will happen in carefully planned phases and residents will receive information from Salford City Council before the phase affecting their home begins.
The first tenants to receive the notices in June 2009 included Pear Tree Court, Holcombe Close, Brydon Close and the odd numbers on Edgehill Close. In June 2010, demolition notices were issued to tenants living in Apple Tree Court and Peach Tree Court.
The next phase of intensive rehousing support will take place on the Athole Street estate. Residents have been issued with Initial Demolition Notices and will be receiving advice from Salix Homes to take them through the next stage of the rehousing process.
Residents will be given all the help they need to move into their new homes. This can be a very stressful experience, however officers from Salix Homes will be on hand to support you.
If you have any questions about the demolition notices you can call Salix Direct on 0800 218 2000 or email daryl.stonebank@salixhomes.org or alternatively, drop into the Salix Homes office on Hankinson Way and speak to a member of staff.
