Museum and Art Gallery
- Monday to Friday: 10.00am to 4.45pm
- Saturday and Sunday: 1.00pm to 5.00pm
The museum is located next to Salford University and is approximately a 20 minute walk from central Manchester, via Chapel Street to the Crescent.
Transport details
By car
The museum is easily reached from the Greater Manchester motorway network. From the north, leave the M60 at junction 16 (A666). From the south, follow signs from the end of the M602. Directions are available from the AA Route Planner.
Car parking charges apply at Salford Museum at the following rates:
- £2.00 - Up to three hours
- £5.00 - Three to six hours
- £8.00 - Six to twelve hours
All monies generated will go towards the running of Salford Museum and Art Gallery.
By bus
Buses from central Manchester, Bolton, Pendleton and Eccles regularly go past the museum on the Crescent (A6). Local bus services are available on this page that will bring you directly outside the museum:

By train
Trains run from Manchester Victoria, Manchester Piccadilly, Salford Central and Bolton train stations to Salford Crescent station which is a five minute walk from the Museum and Art Gallery.
Directions: From the station platform, turn left (right if coming from Manchester) and down the station ramp. Go straight on and across the university campus mini roundabout and follow the road ahead. Keep to the right and you will see the art gallery ahead of you uphill, slightly to your left. The entrance to the museum is just at the top of the slope and will be on your left hand side.
