Carers

A carer is someone who, without payment, provides help and support to a partner, child, relative, friend or neighbour, who could not manage without their help. This could be due to age, physical or mental illness, addiction or disability. Carers come from all walks of life, all cultures and can be of any age.

Carers Direct
Carers Direct, provided by the NHS, provides national information, advice and support for carers. Call 0808 802 0202 between 8.00am and 9.00pm from Monday to Friday or between 11.00am and 4.00pm at weekends.
Young carers
Young carers are children or young people under the age of 18 carrying out significant caring tasks and assuming a level of responsibility for another person, which would normally be taken by an adult.
