Background

Disability living allowance and attendance allowance are important benefits which help disabled people to meet the financial cost of their needs and so promote independence. Yet increasingly we are seeing these awards being reduced or turned down. This course looks in detail at the qualifying conditions for both DLA and AA. We also look at how to claim and how to protect these important disability benefits.

Aims

To examine the criteria and process of assessment for DLA and AA.

To develop practical skills in completing claim forms, providing supporting evidence and challenging decisions.

  • How DLA and AA are administered and the process for challenging decisions

  • Exchange of tips, tactics for completing claim forms and retaining entitlement

Social and health care staff and anyone who supports or advises disabled people. No prior knowledge needed.
