Donations and bequests

Salford Museum and Art Gallery welcomes donations and bequests from members of the public. We are especially interested in material that is unique to the geographical area of the city of Salford. This includes the districts of Eccles, Swinton and Pendlebury, Irlam and Cadishead, and Worsley.

You can now donate an object online using our interactive form. If we feel that the object you wish to donate will improve our current collection we will get in touch to arrange a transfer to our stores.

Unfortunately due to constraints on storage and to avoid duplication we are unable to accept everything that is offered to the museum. We have a collection policy which restricts the items we can and cannot accept.

We do not accept loans to the museum except in the case where a particular object would enhance a specific temporary exhibition. In such circumstances the loan would be for a fixed period agreed between the museum and the lender.
