Eccles
Eccles town centre has grown from a small village into a vibrant town centre that provides a range of shopping and community facilities.
Eccles is located at the heart of the Manchester City Region. It is a well connected town served by motorways, trams, trains and buses that link the town centre to Greater Manchester and beyond.
The town centre is home to a mix of independent, energetic local retailers and brand names as well as daily and monthly markets. Eccles also has a number of well known local restaurants and public houses. The town centre also hosts a number of events for all the family. Events range from book talks to family events and jazz nights.
The town centre also offers access to a number of community facilities and services including Eccles Gateway health and community centre, adult and children's library services, a post office, travel information offices, council and partner services, and one of the busiest Fit City leisure centres and swimming pools in Salford.
Eccles is an established office destination with a mix of affordable and high grade office. This includes new office developments along Centenary Way at the gateway to MediaCityUK - offering an exciting opportunity for the town centre. The council's business team can offer advice for anyone looking for business advice, information on relocating or starting a new business in Salford. Creating a town centre to be proud of
As part of developing a regeneration plan for the west of the city (Salford West strategic regeneration framework), we talked to local residents and business about their ideas for improving the west of Salford. People wanted busy town centres where people come to shop and where businesses want to invest. Eccles town centre is a priority project in the framework. We want to:
- Increase the number of people visiting the town centre
- Support current jobs and businesses
- Encourage new business and jobs into the area
- Ensure visitors leave with positive stories of the town centre
- Build on the pride local people have in the town centre
