Support for disabled people

Supported Employment, which is part of Skills and Work, is the friendly and supportive service that helps disabled people realise their potential and connects them to jobs and training.

This service is open to anybody with a disability living in Salford, whether it’s a learning disability, a mental health issue, an acquired brain injury or a physical or sensory impairment.

When you contact Supported Employment you can expect:

  • Tailor-made and flexible support: we’ll offer you the support you need. We don’t believe in ‘one-size fits all’!
  • Personal and supportive service: you’ll have your own employment advisor who will stay in touch throughout your journey into and during work. We’ll arrange to see you so we can get to know you, answer any questions you may have and put you on the road to paid employment!
  • Guidance on how to get the job you want: we help you find a job you’ll love by preparing a vocational profile with you. This will cover your education, health, hobbies and interests, lifestyle and any previous work history.
  • Help to overcome the barriers that prevent you from working: worried about losing your benefits? Are you not very confident? Are you concerned you don’t have the right skills or experience? These are just some of the common barriers people feel stops them from working. We can help you overcome these problems so you can get into paid employment.
  • Support with your job search: using your vocational profile, we’ll search for the perfect job for you. We will even come along to your job interview if you need some morale support.
  • Training and support: we give personal training and long-term support until you achieve independence in the workplace.

Call us on 0161 909 6503, we’ll connect you with your future.

You can also drop in to our centre. We are open Monday to Friday, from 9.00am to 5.00pm.
