Empty properties

An empty property

Salford City Council's Empty Properties Team works to resolve the issues behind a home being left empty.

If there is a home in your neighbourhood that has been left vacant and you are concerned about it, we want to know. We understand the problems empty properties can cause, such as:

  • attracting anti-social behaviour, fly tipping and vandalism
  • cause blight and have a negative impact on the area
  • lost resource to the community at a time of limited housing supply
  • depreciation of housing values

The teams main goal is to work towards returning the property back to residential use. This is achieved one of two ways:

  • voluntary measures with advice and support
  • enforced action by the city council

If you are concerned about an empty property in your area and you wish to report it, you can contact the Empty Property Team using the contact details below.

Please note that properties that are not homes (such as shops, factories, etc) that are in urgent need of attention should be reported to building control.
