East Salford task groups
The community committee has set up tasks groups to look at some of the more complicated issues that crop up and also you allocate money, provided by the council, to local groups and for local projects.
Environmental Task Group
The East Salford Environment Task Group is responsible for identifying opportunities to improve the local environment. It also provides a voice for local residents in partnership with agencies such as Environment Services, Housing, Salix Homes and the Neighbourhood Management Team. It meets every six weeks in various locations around East Salford.
Some of the issues we have looked at recently include:
- Fly-tipping
- Contaminated bins
- Duchy Lagoons
- Recycling
- How the group can support the local community priorities
If you are a member of the community committee and would like to join this task group or would just like to talk about an environmental issue please ring Vanessa Hamnett on 0161 686 5431 or email her at vanessa.hamnett@salford.gov.uk.

Youth Task Group
This task group looks at all issues to do with young people between the ages of 11 to 25. It is made up of all the agencies that have an interest in activities and projects that can help, support and entertain young people. In the near future young people are going to be involved in the group. The task group meets monthly.
Some of the issues we have considered recently are:
- Existing provision for young people in East Salford
- East Salford's Youth Forum and young peoples involvement in the Youth Task Group
- How the task group supports community priorities
Going forward the task group intends to jointly plan young people's summer holiday provision, support and enhance a proposed healthy weight programme and establish a young peoples forum.
If you are a young person or someone who is interested in young people and the services that might be provided for them, please phone Gareth Wilkinson on 0161 686 5430 or email him at gareth.wilkinson@salford.gov.uk.

Highways Task Group
This group meets to discuss transport, highways, and road safety issues. It is made up of local residents, and other partners including officers of the agencies that provide highway services.
Each year the council gives the community committee an amount of money to spend on small schemes to improve road safety and the highways. This year the task group has met to discuss the allocation of the £50,000 devolved capital budget, and devised a "Have your Say " on East Salford Highways programme for 2011/2012.
If you would like to join this task group or would just like to talk about a transport, highways or road safety issue, please phone Vanessa Hamnett on 0161 686 5431 or email her at vanessa.hamnett@salford.gov.uk.

Each year the council gives the community committee funds to support activities by local groups. The budget group members consider applications from East Salford groups and make recommendations to community committee about which applications should be approved.
