European Elections: 4 June 2009

The European Parliamentary election took place on Thursday 4 June 2009.

The turnout for Salford's Local Counting area was verified on Thursday 4 June 2009 as 27.54%.

Salford City Council is part of the North West Region and there were a total of eight seats available.

Voters had one vote, which they used to vote for a party or an individual candidate.

To tie in with the rest of Europe the votes for this election were counted on Sunday 7 June 2009 and results were announced by the Regional Returning Officer (Sir Howard Bernstein) after 9pm, once the polling stations in the rest of Europe have closed.
