Paul and Richard
We're Paul and Richard from Salford and we adopted in 2008. We decided we wanted to have a child and adoption was the only option for us. As a same sex couple, we expected there to be a long wait. The assessment process can be intrusive, but we fully understood why it had to be. We felt that everything was done thoroughly and the support we had from the family placement social worker was fantastic. We never felt we had anything to worry about.
We decided that one child, aged between 3 and 5 would be best for us, and were matched with our son when he was aged 3. He moved in with us in September 2007 and we were very pleased that the final adoption order came in June 2008. Since the final order we have had no concerns. The match with our child has been spot on and we're a very happy family now.
We're very glad we decided to adopt through Salford.
