SAP Team
In 2000 the council took a major decision to transform its business support systems by investing in and implementing the SAP R/3 enterprise resource management system.
The initial focus of the implementation of SAP was to deliver excellent financial systems and processes. In 2000/2001 the council's project team in partnership with Price Waterhouse Coopers introduced the following functions:
- General ledger
- Accounts payable
- Accounts receivable
- Purchasing
A further key development of the project was to replace the existing payroll systems for the council's 10,000 employees. This was achieved in April 2001.
A SAP project team supports the 650 current users of SAP throughout the council's directorates, including the provision of system training. In addition the team works closely with service managers and the council's e-government team to develop further SAP-based facilities including:
- E-procurement
- Employee self-service
- Recruitment
- Training management
- Human resource management
The focus of the SAP team is to continue to develop and deliver efficient business support processes to ensure the effective management of the council's resources - financial, people and assets - to help provide excellent services to our customers.
