Finance

The Finance division of the Customer and Support Services directorate looks after the financial services of the city council and is the lead district for the Greater Manchester Police Authority (GMPA). The City Treasurer, John Spink, has a statutory duty to ensure that proper financial arrangements are in place for the conduct of all the council's affairs.

We support the city council's directorates by providing financial advice, guidance and assistance through accountancy and audit and risk management units to ensure the council makes the best use of its resources whilst also providing key financial processing services on their behalf such as payroll, invoice payments, billing and debt recovery and e-trading.The procurement team co-ordinates the purchase of goods and services for the council to achieve value for money.

The Finance division is responsible for the overall management of the council's net revenue budget of £228.5m, capital programme of £152m and Housing Revenue Account of £40m gross expenditure.
