Foot care

Foot/nail care

If you want to stay active and independent, looking after your feet is really important. Good foot health can help to prevent falls.

What you can do for yourself

The NHS has lots of advice about keeping your feet healthy.

Chiropodists (also called podiatrists) can help with foot and nail care. They often have a home visting service. Use a telephone directory or online directory such as Yell.com to search for local chiropodists.

Chiropodists and podiatrists must be registered with the Health Professions Council and you should check their registration before making an appointment.

If you have some tips that help, let us know and we can publish them here.

If you have more serious problems with your feet, you should contact your local health or Gateway centre and ask for a referral to the podiatry service.

What we can do for you

If you want more advice or you feel that you need more support, use our online enquiry form or contact us. We may be able to assess your situation and discuss the type of support you need.
