Salford City Council is supporting the national Foster Care Fortnight (15 to 28 May). It’s The Fostering Network's annual campaign to raise the profile of fostering and show how foster care transforms lives.
We’re doing lots of work in Salford to increase the number of foster carers who work with the council, so we can provide the support children and young people need in the city, when they need it. You could earn up to £500 per week, per child, plus other allowances as a foster carer. Fostering income isn’t included in means tested benefits calculations.
For all our fostering roles, we’re looking for people who have experience of working with, or have their own children, this could also be through community work.
We’re holding a few events during the fortnight and we’d love for you to find out how rewarding being a foster carer is. Why not come along and ask any questions you have about fostering?
We have two online events where anyone can join to find out information about fostering and ask questions.
For the in-person events, we encourage people to book a time to speak to someone, but you can also drop-in. To book on either our in-person, or online events, and for more information, please email: emily.garner@salford.gov.uk
