Funding
Funding has been available over the past few years to support the development of childcare and other extended services in schools. This includes capital and revenue funding.
On 1 April 2010, allocations will be devolved to an agreed lead school in each of the clusters. Details of allocations have been sent to all headteachers and extended school coordinators. If you would like further information about this, please contact Leanne Harrison.
For audit purposes, schools are requested to submit a project development plan via email to extended.schools@salford.gov.uk to indicate the proposed use of this cluster funding.
Examples of appropriate uses of this funding include:
- additional resources for extended school co-ordination
- provision of office space, equipment or administration for extended school developments where this can be shown to be additional expenditure incurred normally be the school/cluster
- equipment required for extended school developments to take place e.g. adult sized furniture, storage etc.
- consultation and publicity events and materials
- resources which will assist extended school developments e.g. literature from DCSF or recommended third party suppliers
- bringing together appropriate groups for the advice and management of extended schools
- enhancing buildings to make them more appropriate for extended school use e.g. additional signs
- the use of facilities away from the school base where this is deemed to be appropriate to attract certain targeted groups
- additional costs for health and safety or property issues which extended schools may incur
- payments for cover for staff attending extended school meeting or carrying out tasks on behalf of the cluster
