Getting involved
At Fiddlers Lane Children's Centre, we actively try to be involved in our community, and encourage all to have some involvement with the children's centre. We believe that this will help us to improve the services that we provide for you, and allow you to get the most you possibly can out of the centre for yourself and your children if you have any.
There are many ways to get involved, depending on your circumstance and interests. We are always keen to have volunteers on board who continue to prove invaluable to the running of the centre. There is also the parents' forum and the advisory board or even just feedback and comments forms.
Parents' forum
The parents' forum is your chance to have a real say in the children's centre. The parents' forum allows you to have your own say, as well as being the voice of other parents that use the centre. The parents' forum has arranged a number of events and trips including the very popular family outing to the Monkey Forest. Just ask any member of staff or call the centre on 0161 921 1708 if you want to get involved as well.
The parents' forum meetings are typically held once a month at 11.00am on a Wednesday. Please contact the centre for dates.
Advisory board
An advisory board must provide advice and assistance for the purpose of ensuring the effective operation of the children's centre within it's remit' (Childcare Act 2006).
Our advisory board meets four times a year to discuss how well the centre is performing and any areas for improvement. As a parent representative you can have your say about the services on offer and meet the professionals who deliver them.
We are always seeking parent/carer representatives to sit on our advisory board. Please contact the centre on 0161 921 1708 for more details and for dates.
Volunteering at the centre
Would you like to learn new skills, or put your existing skills to good use in your community? The children's centre is always on the lookout for enthusiastic volunteers who can offer little or much time. Volunteering can help to develop skills and boost your CV if you are job hunting or trying to get back into work.
If you are interested in volunteering please contact the centre on 0161 921 1708 and ask for a volunteer application form, where you can tell us what you would like to do.
Feedback and comments
You may be unable to volunteer or be involved in the forums and advisory boards, but you can still get involved in the centre. Have your thoughts heard through our feedback and comments forms. Whether you have ideas for a new session, see room for improvement in one of our services, or would just like to tell us which bits you appreciate and work well for you, we want to know about it. It just takes a couple of minutes to note it on a feedback and comments slip and hand it to the reception or any member of staff. Just ask any session leader or reception for a feedback and comments slip at any time.
