Equipment in hallways, stairs and landings
Bogus caller button

The button is a Care on Call pendant next to the front door (or bedside). If you press the button an alarm signal (usually silent) is sent to Care on Call wardens. When the wardens receive the alarm, they will normally just listen in to see if you need help. If you are uncertain about a caller who wishes to gain access to your property, then you can press the button to be able to talk with wardens for help/advice.
Buddi GPS
You wear a small GPS device (the size and shape of a wrist watch) which means that if you get confused or lost outside, you can quickly be found.
Door contacts

When the two plastic sensors are separated as a door opens the door contacts will automatically send an alarm to the unit. In some circumstances the contacts can be fitted with a key switch so that a carer can activate and de-activate the door contacts as they are needed.
Just checking
This is especially good for people who are confused or have dementia. Sensors around your home follow your movements so that health and social care staff can see any patterns and help to see how you are managing.
Passive infrared detector

The PIR automatically alerts Care on Call or your carer to call for help if you have not moved within a set time. It can also be set to detect activity (wandering) and will send a signal to the unit if this is the case.
Smoke detector

When smoke is detected a high pitched sound goes off. After ten seconds the smoke detector will signal to the Carer Alert or Care on Call unit. You should test the smoke detector at least once a month by pressing the the test button. If you can't do this safely, ask a friend, relative or carer to help.
Wireless voice announcer

You activate the speaker by walking past a sensor. The speaker then plays a pre-recorded message to encourage you to stop or do certain behaviour - such as "it's late please don't go out" or " don't forget to take your keys if you're going out".
