Postal addresses in Salford
As a council, our practice is to clearly identify all towns and neighbourhoods within the city as being in Salford.
The Post Office do not recognise Salford as a separate postal area and we still carry the Manchester "M" prefix in our postcodes. But as long as postcodes are provided, we are able to use "Salford" in all our addresses.
Steps to take
When publishing a postal address it must include a postcode and the city should be referred to as Salford and not Manchester.
For example:
Correct
Salford City Council
Civic Centre
Chorley Road
Swinton
Salford
M27 5AW
Wrong
Salford City Council
Civic Centre
Chorley Road
Swinton
Manchester
M27 5AW
