Salford has a famous heritage to be proud of, from the Tudor age, through the industrial revolution to 20th century pioneers. This programme of heritage walks, run by Salford Heritage Services, gives an insight into the city's history, brough to life by experienced guides.
Step out and discover Salford's towns and villages, landmark buildings, people and their stories. You may think you know Salford, but these walks will explore the often unknown, quirky, but always interesting facts.
Heritage walks are a great way of getting some exercise, meeting new people and discovering more about the city. The walks are suitable for all ages and are on even ground, however not suitable for wheelchair users or pushchairs.
So lace up your walking shoes and step out for a fun and fact filled walk!
- Walks must be booked in advance at the Salford Tourist Information Centre on 0161 848 8601
- Walks are £2 for adults, children are free of charge
- Please wear appropriate shoes or boots and bring an umbrella!

Lark Hill to Castleford
Meet 1.30pm at Salford Museum and Art Gallery, Crescent, Peel Park, Salford, M5 4WU.
Take a stroll through Peel Park, uncovering facts about Broughton Suspension Bridge and Salford's famous racecourse.

Irlam's Princes Park
Meet at 10.00am outside Irlam and Cadishead Youth Centre, Liverpool Road, Irlam, M44 6BR.
Take a wander around Prince's Park and find out about the oldest inhabited part of Irlam. Discover more about the inhabitants of Irlam Hall and the lasting testaments to two of the greatest benefactors in the district. Why not bring a picnic and enjoy the fair and music in Prince's Park as part of Irlam Festival.

Eccles Ale Trail
Meet 12.00pm at Eccles Train Station car park, St Mary's Road, Eccles, M30 0DN.
Quench your thirst for knowledge on this stroll around the pubs of Eccles, taking in tales or murder, hauntings, politics and riots. Places on this walk are limited to 20. Drinks not included in the price.

The Salford Ranger Team also run guided walks throughout the year, with special walks looking at industrial history and natural history, to longer walks for those who want to stretch their legs a little bit more.
