Who provides the homecare service?
We will arrange for your care to be provided by one of the seven home care companies contracted to cover the city. The company you will use depends on where you live in the city:
- Claremont/Weaste - DH Homecare
- East Salford - Local Solutions
- Eccles - Comfort Call Limited
- Irlam/Cadishead - Sevacare (UK) Limited
- Ordsall/Langworthy - Homecare Support
- Swinton - Nightingales Homecare Limited
- Walkden/Little Hulton - Premier Care Limited
- Worsley/Boothstown - Sevacare (UK) Limited
All these companies have to meet our service standards, including:
- All visits should be within 30 minutes (either side) of the agreed time
- You should be advised of any changes to the time or visiting care worker
- A small team of care workers should be assigned to carryout the service, so that you have consistency and reliability
- Accurate records should be kept of the time the visits were carried out and what was done by the care worker
- Regular reviews of your service should be carried out, at least once a year
- You should have contact details of the local branch and also have been made aware how to complain if you need to
- You should be confident that care workers are trained and supervised
- You should be treated with dignity and respect at all times.
A full list of the standards is available on our personal homecare page.
How can I use the homecare service?
If you want us to arrange services for you, we will use your personal budget to arrange and pay for the service.
Usually, before we arrange services for you:
- we will have assessed your needs
- you will have used a reablement service.
This will give you as much independence as possible and we will have a better idea of how much support you will continue to need.
Does the homecare service cost?
Yes, you will have to pay something towards the cost of any service that you use. You can find out more by reading paying for home care, day care and other services.
What should I do if I am not happy with the service?
In the first instance, you should talk to the manager of the service. You may want to ask a family member or friend to help you with this. You can also ask an advocate to help.
If this has not worked, then you should contact our customer care manager, to make a complaint.
