Handyperson Star

Helping Hands handyperson Louise Bown will soon have to get used to being recognised in the street as she is set to become the star of billboards and adverts on the side of taxis all over the city.

Louise will be promoting the Skills and Work service and providing a role model to women everywhere, by succeeding in what had been a traditionally male dominated sector whilst bringing up her young daughter single handed.

Since starting with Helping Hands, Louise has been fully trained in joinery, fitting disabled adaptations and laminate flooring, conducting risk assessments and affordable warmth. She has been assisted to pass her driving test and is now delivering an excellent repair service.

The service is open to older people, people with disabilities and families in receipt of benefits with a child under 5 years old who own their own homes or privately rent.

Whether repairing gutters or fitting locks, installing grab rails or advising on fire safety, Louise has proved a big hit, especially with female customers.

Louise has made a major contribution to the Helping Hands service which continues to go from strength to strength.
