Have your say about housing in Salford
We are committed to listening to your views and providing opportunities for residents to get involved in making decisions about housing in Salford.
The Sustainable Regeneration directorate covers a great range of housing and housing related services. The directorate also oversees the production of strategies and policies which influence how housing and housing services develop in the future.
We are always interested to hear what people think about housing and housing services in the city. We ask customers for their views when we are developing new services. We ask people what they have thought about services they have received so we can make improvements based on what they have told us.
We also involve local people in the development of strategies and policies. For instance, the development of a Young Person's Housing plan involved a group of young volunteers who were trained and supported to undertake consultation with lots of young people in the city asking them what they wanted from housing in the future. A Learning Difficulties Housing Strategy involved carers and service users throughout the process of development. The consultation which took place also used ‘user-friendly' styles such as pictorial language and larger fonts to make it as easy as possible for everyone to respond to us.
The Sustainable Regeneration directorate works to standards for consultation and involvement as outlined in the Partners IN Salford Community Engagement Strategy.
Service User Network (SUN): The directorate has formed a service user network made up of people who use a wide range of housing services. The network will be used to provide service users with information on what's happening in housing and for us to get their views on current and future housing services.
Web pages: We are also interested to hear your views on our web pages. Did you find what you were looking for? Do the pages contain the type of information you found helpful? If not, what was missing, what would you change? Please contact Marie (details below) with any views on our web pages.
Consultations: Housing and housing related services run consultations throughout the year on many different subjects. If you would like to be kept informed about any up and coming consultations please contact Marie Donaghey by emailing marie.donaghey@salford.gov.uk or telephoning 0161 793 2331.
Tenants: Tenants of local housing providers and associations should contact their landlord for details of how they can get involved and have their say with their landlord.
Salix Homes has set up lots of new and interesting ways for tenants to get involved in their services, things like the Salix 600, fun days and community events. Go to Salix Homes - Getting Involved for more information.
City West Housing Trust has many exciting ways for tenants to get involved including their first customer conference and involving residents in developing policies. Go to City West Housing Trust - Getting involved for more information.
The Tenant Services Authority (TSA) is a new national body set up to ensure that tenants voices are heard and acted upon. "We believe housing matters, and that good housing improved lives. We're the new regulator for homes owned by housing associations and co-operatives. From Spring 2010 we're likely to be responsible for local council and arm's length management organisations (ALMO) landlords too". This quote was taken from the initial consultation that the TSA undertook early in 2009, The National Conversation.
