Housing Support Link

What is Housing Support Link?
The way referrals to floating support services are made has recently changed in Salford. The Housing Support Link is now your one central point to be referred, or to make a referral, to a variety of floating support services, the definition of a floating support service is:
'A service that provides support to service users that are either in their own home/tenancy, or are looking to move into their own tenancy in the very near future, the services are tenure blind - i.e. it doesn't matter whether you rent or own your property.'
The use of floating support services in Salford was reviewed after it was indentified that when people move out of services and into independent living they don't always get the support they need. We looked at floating support services to see if they could be improved. To do this we:
- carried out an extensive review of all our floating support services during 2007 - 2008
- consulted with people that use floating support services and people who provide floating support services as well as people who work with service users and refer them to floating support services if they need them
Following the review, all floating support services no longer take direct referrals. All referrals will come through one place, the Housing Support Link.
