Byron Hunt

Byron is a Pest Control Officer, although many people refer to him as the "rat catcher".

But he says whatever you call him, the job is the same - and residents are always pleased to see him. He's been in the job for fifteen years, and reckons his previous Army training has stood him in good stead.

He enjoyed filming for the BBC, but it's not the first time he's been in the limelight. "I am a bit of a film star really - a few years ago I did something similar for Granada in "The Thin Green Line".

There's lots of variety to the job - as well as catching rats, mice and other vermin, he and his work-mate also catch squirrels, which cause nuisance by nesting in people's lofts, and pigeon problems.

Byron reckons the that team do a good job keeping vermin at bay by putting poison down manholes. "We keep the rats sorted and that's for sure!"
