On Thursday 10 July 2014, public sector workers from across the UK will be on strike.
This means some council services will not be available. Full details of the services affected will be provided on this page as they become available.
Schools and local authority nurseries
Many of Salford schools will be closed to pupils on Thursday 10 July. To see if your school will be closed, please see our school closures page. All local authority nurseries will be closed.
There will be no refuse collections on Thursday 10 July.
If you were expecting a refuse collection on 10 July, put them out again on the next scheduled collection day.
All cemetery grounds will be open but there will be no burials and cremations taking place on the day. All funeral directors and clergy have been informed.
Adult social care
The following day services and day centres will be closed on Thursday:
- Alexandra House
- Brierley House
- St Georges
- Humphrey Booth Resource Centre - Poppy Unit
All other services may be disrupted.
The Contact Centre will be open but will be offering a reduced service. The switchboard will be available to deal with general enquiries.
For services that are not available a recorded message will be played advising of the industrial action and alternative solutions, such as online offerings. It will also give advice about what to do in case of an emergency.
Gateway centres across the city are likely to be open but only for clinical appointments and some library services.
The council's registry office will be offering a reduced service to register deaths.
Civic Centre reception
The main Civic Centre reception will be open but it is unlikely that Unity House reception will be open.
