Then becoming a walk leader could be for you!

The benefits of becoming a volunteer walk leader are:

  • Satisfaction in helping others to access and enjoy the benefits of walking.
  • Invitation to attend a free volunteer walk leader training course.
  • Support from the Jo Bennett in the volunteering role.
  • Resources for the walk; including fluorescent tabards, rucksack and first aid kit.
  • Public liability insurance through Salford Community Leisure / Ramblers.

What we would expect from the volunteer walk leader:

  • Commitment to help lead a Wellbeing Walk for at least 6 months.
  • Lead the walk as demonstrated on the training day.
  • Ensure the safety of participants on the walk.
  • Spend around 1-1.5hrs per week leading a walk.
  • Have a sound knowledge of the local area.
  • Help research and risk assess suitable walking routes.
  • Attend group meetings around the walks and volunteering.
  • Ensure any information from Jo Bennett is circulated to all walkers.
