Joint Strategic Needs Assessment 2010
A Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) is defined as a ‘systematic method for reviewing the health and wellbeing needs of a population, leading to agreed commissioning priorities that will improve the health and wellbeing outcomes and reduce inequalities. The first JSNA for Salford was completed in 2008 and provided a framework for further systematic reviewing of the health and wellbeing needs of Salford.
The 2010 JSNA strengthened the range and depth of the JSNA, with the inclusion of a chapter on the wider causes of ill health and health inequalities. Greater priority is given to children, young people and families in, highlighting the importance of early intervention to prevent the development of risky health behaviours or chronic conditions which may contribute to reduce anti-social behaviour and social exclusion and to improve infant and maternal health.
The various chapters of the JSNA are as follows:
- Chapter 1 - Salford's Story
- Chapter 2 - Wider Cases of Health Inequalities
- Chapter 3 - Healthy Lifestyles
- Chapter 4 - Children, Young People and Families
- Chapter 5 - Adult Health and Wellbeing
- Chapter 6 - Neighbourhood Profiles
- Chapter 7 - Case Studies
- Chapter 8 - Health Equity Audit
