Key Stage 1: Lark Hill Live
Living History for Key Stage 1
For Key Stage 1 pupils we have developed the 'Lark Hill Live!' package.
We aim to bring the street to life for the children by introducing them to the colourful characters of Lark Hill Place, recreating the ambience of Victorian times.
Your class will be greeted at the entrance by our costumed guides, who will talk about Victorian life. They will help your students discover what it was really like to be a Victorian by showing them 'Lark Hill Place', our reconstucted Victorian Street. The pupils will also take part in a hands-on Victorian washday demonstration.
Sessions have been designed to be structured, yet informal and relaxed, so that the children have lots of opportunities to ask questions and interact with the guides.
Learning objectives: By the end of the session learners will:
- Have met and interacted with characters from Victorian times
- Be able to identify differences between ways of life at different times (ref. History NC KS1)
- Be able to ask and answer questions about the past (ref. History NC KS1)
This service is free but must be booked in advance. Please call 0161 778 0821 to arrange a visit
Size of group
We can only accommodate one class in the street (maximum of 35) due to health and safety reasons. Larger groups can be split up, with part of the group visiting the other galleries. All groups must be accompanied by adults - we recommend a ratio of at least 1 to 10.
