Salford City Council recognises the importance of the private rented sector in providing housing for its residents.and the landlord accreditation scheme aims to assist landlords who want to provide good quality housing at affordable rents.

Although Salford City Council appreciates the valued contribution that many landlords make in the community, a minority of landlords fail to manage their properties to an acceptable standard. The authority is therefore making full use of new powers under the Housing Act 2004 which enables the licensing of certain landlords in order to improve conditions for tenants and the local community.
