Langworthy, Pendleton and Seedley SNAP

18 arrests were made for offences including fraud and the possession of drugs, almost 200 members of the public visited the mobile police station for help, advice and to report intelligence, 21 tonnes of bulky waste collected, seven new alley gates schemes were installed and all existing alley gating checked and repaired where necessary… these are just some of the activities that took place during the Langworthy, Pendleton and Seedley SNAP.

You said… we did

We received complaints about a tenants' anti-social behaviour at Graythorpe Way so officers visited those people to speak to them about their behaviour and issued a tenancy warning.

You requested improvements to be made around Wrotham Close, the area around Pendleton Gateway and at the Old Clarendon High School Site. We cleared rubbish, cut back overgrown plants and shrubbery and removed graffiti and litter.

The Probation Service's Community Payback team made lots of improvements to the area at Fit City Clarendon, including painting the play equipment. (Due to bad weather the team had to return after the SNAP week was finished to do this.)

You asked us to provide diversionary activities for young people. Youth workers targeted Chimney Pot Park and Buile Hill Park making contact with about 50 young people who they will engage with in providing evening activities. In addition the iBulance, a new mobile education resource giving young people help around topics such as drink, drugs, sex and relationships, piloted a scheme during SNAP. It had a lot of success and will continue to do work in the area.

Activities for younger children were put on by SPARKY. Other activities were held during the week, including cook and taste classes and stop smoking sessions. Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service were also able to visit lots of residents to make sure their homes were safe, to give advice and to fit free smoke alarms where necessary.

Remember - it is vital that you work with us in reporting crime and local issues so we can continue to make Langworthy, Pendleton and Seedley a safer place to be, targeting crime and anti-social behaviour and building links across the community.
