Police activity
Sergeant Stuart McGuire, Salford Central Neighbourhood Policing Team
Three drugs warrants were executed today which led to three people being arrested. One man was arrested on suspicion of possessing with intent to supply after 12 cannabis plants were found at his address, alongside other forms of the drug. Over £2,500 was seized under the Proceeds Of Crime Act (POCA) and a woman was arrested on suspicion of money laundering. Warrants similar to this take place on a regular basis throughout Salford and we are sending a clear message to those responsible that their actions will not be tolerated. You can report any suspicious behaviour to police on 0161 872 5050.
The mobile police station has been in Langworthy and we have had a number of visitors. This is an ideal way to meet your local police officer and discuss the issues you feel we need to tackle to make your neighbourhood safer for you and your family. Don't forget, there are a number of police surgeries and Beat meetings taking place across the city so feel free to pop in and speak to us about your concerns.
Police community support officers (PCSOs) have accompanied housing officers from Salix Homes to Sycamore Court where anti-social behaviour surveys were conducted. This is to gather information on any concerns residents may have. PCSOs have also been on joint foot patrols with NCP enforcement officers to ensure there are no parking offences in the area.
To contact the Salford Central Neighbourhood Policing Team on 0161 856 5084 or email us.

Mobile youth bus
Joanna Wolfe, Salford Youth Service
The youth bus was taken to the back of the precinct in front of Fads decorating shop. The area was relatively quiet with very few young people in the area. This could be down to the United match being on the telly. The detached team from the youth service joined us and then moved on to see if there were any groups in the surrounding areas.
Three teenage boys aged 14 and 15 got on the bus. They had never been on it before so we told them its purpose and when it was in the area the rest of the week. They did not stay for very long as they were on their way to somewhere else.
The detached team brought a group of five girls back to the bus who had previously been involved with the workers. This was a good opportunity to encourage them to keep in contact with the Youth Service and to tell them what activities are happening during the rest of the week, including Saturday's event at the Cornerstone.
Environmental morning at St Paul's CE Primary
Clare Standish, Environmental Education Officer, Salford City Council
Year 6 spent this morning learning about how we affect the environment. They learned about where all our rubbish goes, how materials are recycled and what we can do to help the environment. The class ended by assessing their school and coming up with an action plan.
Monday 24 January
Street dancing
Cheryl Williams, Salford Community Leisure
15 young people came along to a street dance session at Fit City Clarendon. The sessions take place every week and are organised as part of the SPARKY (Sports, Parks, Arts, Recreation, Kids and Youth) project.
The group practised and learnt some new dance moves and skills which can all be put in use when they take part in dance showcases and enter awards. The young people really enjoyed themselves.
Larkhill combats the local litter problem
Clare Standish, Enivronmental Education Officer, Salford City Council
Armed with letterpickers and gloves, year 3 pupils at Larkhill Primary spent the afternoon cleaning up their neighbourhood. The pupils went round the school field and local streets and collected over 20 bags of rubbish in a hour! The pupils now want to spread the word amongst the community that we shouldn't drop litter and we should look after our streets.
