Laundry service

Laundry

If you are struggling with your laundry, some of these tips may help:

  • Spread the washing over a few days will take less effort
  • Use front opening washing machines and tumble driers which can sit on your worktop, so that you do not have to bend or kneel down
  • Keep conditioner, detergent, powder etc close to hand
  • Use a smaller laundry basket
  • Don't hang clothes on curtain rails, as you might trip whilst reaching
  • Buy large grip clothes pegs
  • Use your local launderette
  • Use a local washing service

What is the laundry service?

Each week, we will collect up to ten items of laundry (a pair of socks is two items) if you live alone and up to 16 items if you live as a couple and return them cleaned the following week. We will give you a laundry bag and a book to record what items you are sending for washing.

We do not collect incontinence laundry.

How can I use the laundry service?

If you want us to arrange services for you, we will use your personal budget to arrange and pay for the service. Usually, before we arrange services for you:

This will give you as much independence as possible and we will have a better idea of how much support you will continue to need.

How much does the service cost?

The cost is £3.10 each week you use the service. You can pay the driver when they pick up your laundry.
