Entry to Employment factsheet

Entry to employment

How long will the programme take?
E2E is a flexible programme that operates on a roll-on roll-off basis - what does that mean?.  You could be on the programme for 6 days or 6 months - this depends on how much effort you put into e2e.

What this programme includes:
You will work in a range of ways that best suit what you want to get out of the programme.

Looking for work or a course
If you're looking for a job but need help, we will help you find a work placement.  If you want to go to college, but don’t know what’s on offer, our staff will give you the best advice and they may even take you to have a look around the colleges.

Breakfast club
In the mornings we hold a free breakfast club where you can come before e2e starts and get yourself ready for the day ahead with some toast and a cup of tea.

Activity days
Are held on a regular basis and can range from visiting Old Trafford to trips to Salford Quays and job fairs.  Suggestions from learners are encouraged, so if there is somewhere that you would like to visit, let your tutors know and we can try and organise it.

Personal improvement sessions
There are a wide range of sessions that you will be encouraged to be involved in.  Some will help you to find work e.g. interview skills and completing application forms, while others will look at personal aspects e.g. lacking confidence or housing issues.

All sessions are designed to encourage you to interact with the training officer.  Your views and opinions are valued. The most important thing to remember is that every session is delivered with you in mind.  It is not purely about your short term goals, we can give you invaluable life skills that you can use long after e2e has finished.

How many others are there likely to be on my course?
At different times, learners can be out on work experience, or on short courses but class size is usually around 10-15 people.

This means you to get to know others, but you still get the individual support that you need from your training officer. Most learners who come onto e2e, either know someone who is on the programme already, or make friends by the end of their first week.

Will I be able to choose my work placement?

You will be able to choose the subject area that you want to work in, for example it could be mechanics, catering, warehousing, or working in a shop, but you may not be able to choose the company.

The skills officer who works with you will try to ensure that the placement is as close to your home as possible.  With your skills officer, you will be invited to go and look around the place before you start.

What kind of employment or further training can I expect after e2e?

You could progress onto employment, college, or a modern apprenticeship.
