Connexions Direct

Connexions Direct can help you with information and advice on issues relating to health, housing, relationships with family and friends, your career and learning options and money. You can also find out about activities you can get involved in.

Going to college or university

You may be able to get financial help if you are going to college or university.

The Educational Maintenance Allowance is available to students between 16-19 staying on at college.

The AimHigher website will give you all kinds of information about higher education and how it can help you get your dream job.

Vocational training

Salford Skills Centre is a service operated by the Salford City Council Children's Services Directorate. It was created to provide vocational training for the youth of Salford (16-18 year olds).

Youth services

Young people couldn’t be more important to Salford. The Salford Youth Service is an integral part of our strategy of ensuring young people play a leading role in influencing and shaping national initiatives, local partnerships and other services in Salford.

Post 16-19 transport policy

The Local Authority are required to publish a transport policy for learners of sixth form age within Salford and across boundaries, where applicable. The Salford City Council post 16-19 transport policy for 2009 outlines the transport support available for students who are over compulsory school age but under 19, or who are on a course, which started before they reached 19.
