Charlestown Kersal Area Youth Team

The Charlestown and Kersal Youth Team is a team of youth workers based in Charlestown and we run programmes of detached youth work with young people across the Charlestown and Kersal area. Most of our work is with young people between 13 and 19 years.

The area team works on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night between 6.30pm and 9.30pm and Wednesday afternoon between 3pm and 6pm

Charlestown Kersal Area Youth Team is part of Salford Youth Service and we work with young people on an informal basis, delivering programmes of personal, social and political education. Young people’s involvement with the Youth Service is voluntary, and we use a range of methods and resources to offer young people the opportunity to get involved in programmes of work that are relevant to their own needs and aspirations.

We do this by engaging and building up relationships with young people and negotiating activities and projects with them that are educational and fun, and provide opportunities for new experiences and challenges. These include trips, arts and crafts, media projects, issue based work, residentials, participation and community involvement. We support young people to develop skills and the confidence and self-esteem to make informed choices and take an active part in addressing issues that affect them personally and in the wider community.
