Children's centres

This is an exciting time for Salford Sure Start as Sure Start Children’s Centres are developed across the city making life easier for parents and carers by providing the services they need at the heart of their community.
The centres are places where children under five years and their families can receive integrated services and information, and where they can access help from multi-disciplinary teams of professionals, such as health visitors, family support workers and early educators.
Services include:
- Access to childcare, which is open 48 weeks of the year, five days a week from 8am - 6pm
- Access to other play and learning opportunities
- Access to antenatal and postnatal services
- Child and family health advice
- Befriending, advice and family support services
- Employment, training and job seeking advice for mothers and fathers
- Group trips, home visits and other opportunities for you, your child and family
These centres are at the heart of the Government’s strategy to deliver better outcomes for children and families, and are building upon existing successful initiatives like Sure Start local programmes, neighbourhood nurseries and Early Excellence Centres. The Government is committed to delivering a Sure Start Children’s Centre for every community by 2010. The strategy aims to enable all families with children to have access to an affordable, flexible, high quality childcare place for their child. The following centres are now open and work is continuing on more centres across the city.
