Funding
To support the development of the extended schools agenda, Salford has utilised some of the DCSF standards funding, at the request of schools, to employ Locality Project Managers and Extended School Consultants.
The remainder of the extended schools standard fund has been devolved to schools via clusters.
The completion of cluster audits (download below) will enable clusters to identify gaps in provision to aid future planning and best utilisation of available funding. It is expected that this budget will be used to support the implementation of the cluster's Extended Schools Development Plan.
Examples of appropriate uses of this funding include:
- Additional resources for extended school co-ordination
- Provision of office space, equipment or administration for extended school developments where this can be shown to be additional expenditure incurred normally be the school/cluster
- Equipment required for extended school developments to take place e.g. adult sized furniture, storage etc.
- Consultation and publicity events and materials
- Resources which will assist extended school developments e.g. literature from DCSF or recommended third party suppliers
- Bringing together appropriate groups for the advice and management of extended schools
- Enhancing buildings to make them more appropriate for extended school use e.g. additional signs
- The use of facilities away from the school base where this is deemed to be appropriate to attract certain targeted groups
- Additional costs for health and safety or property issues which extended schools may incur
- Payments for cover for staff attending extended school meeting or carrying out tasks on behalf of the cluster
To access devolved standards funds, clusters are required to submit cluster project development plans (download below).
Completed project development plans should be submitted via email to extended.schools@salford.gov.uk on or before the following dates for consideration by the Extended Schools Business Plan Review Sub Group:
- 9th January 2009
- 6th February 2009
- 6th March 2009
