Localities
The new Children's Services Directorate, established in September 2005 has established a new culture and new ways of working to address the Children Act and "Every Child Matters" agenda.
This has included the creation of four new locality-based intervention teams. The localities coincide with those of the PCT and teams include social workers, educational psychologists, education welfare officers and PCT staff.
The city council has a clear ambition to achieve the best quality of life for all children and young people by working towards the five outcomes of "Every Child Matters":
- being healthy
- staying safe
- enjoying and achieving
- making a positive contribution
- achieving economic well-being
Extended schools can make an essential contribution to the "Every Child Matters" agenda.
The strategic overview in Salford is that extended schools will link and feed in with the same four localities as described above. The locality areas are
- North Locality
- West Locality
- South Locality
- Central Locality
Further advice or guidance on the locality teams is available on 0161 909 6530
