Educational trips and visits
Senior ensemble tours
In July 2007 members of the MAPAS senior Arts Centre ensembles travelled to Belgium for an exciting concert tour.
The tour consisted of six nights half board accommodation from Monday 16 to Sunday 22 July 2007 in Hotel Abdij which has a 3 Star rating. The hotel was set in its own grounds in a tranquil location about 300m from the centre of Lo. There were three concerts taking place during the tour and the pupils and staff had the opportunity to visit historic towns and other leisure activities.
The tour was a wonderful opportunity to visit a beautiful part of the world and perform to very appreciative audiences
We are now hoping to broaden our horizons and talks for a trip to Australia in 2010 have been underway. This trip was first mentioned when Richard Milton took up his post as Head of Service. We are keen to look into the viability of such a trip, but it would need immense commitment by you as parents before we could commit to such a venture. We would not expect parents to pay for each individual child as in the past, but would look for a contribution and then large scale fund raising activities and sponsorship for the balance.
With this in mind we intend to have a meeting in the canteen at Swinton High during the last Monday’s rehearsals, 14 July at 6.30 pm. This would give you a chance to find out more about our proposals and give us a chance to see who is prepared to help on the administration side.
I am sure you will agree this would be a once in a life time opportunity for many of our students and look forward to seeing you on 14 July.
